When someone from a business says "free", we know that either they are full of garbage or they want your social security number to rip you off. Why would it be any different when a politician tells us the same thing. Unfortunately, the masses of people who fall for the "free" marketing techniques of corrupt businesses are the same individuals who fall for "free" handouts when they vote for a politician. With so many cheap skates seeking to exploit every opportunity, is there any wonder why so many people are in favor of so many social welfare programs?
The last time I checked, almost everyone I know gets a head ache when they go to a DMV or the ER room (providing they didn't go there with one). On the contrary of popular opinion, I think that the majority of the population needs a few more prescription drugs to relax and give the government bureaucracy an opportunity to work. Besides, patience is a virtue. I like paperwork and incompetence. One more thing, I think that we should give the government 75% of our pay checks cause if we pay them more they will quit being non-exclusive and give everyone 100% free health care. That sounds like a grand idea. Oh and call up Aminidijad, I need to rationalize with him. My hypothesis is that the only reason he wants to kill the Jews is that his father never loved him. Constructive peaceful thought and counseling would do him good.
The socialization of the health care system is far from free. Many of us work hard every day either going to school to some day get a high paying job or working hard at your job. Socialization would only decrease personal incentive to work harder as less is gained, more is taken from you and in the end everyone gets the same thing. Sure in a perfect world this would be fair because everyone in a perfect world would have no character flaws but throughout human history there have always been people who are reluctant to work hard and aspire to be something great in life. If politicians cannot responsibly spend our money under the greatest capitalist nation, how could we ever trust them with more responsibility? Its like handing a pair of Mustang car keys to kid that can't figure out to ride a tricycle.
Quite frankly, the only people who are in favor of socialism are the people who don't work or are too indoctrinated to think past square one. If you are on welfare for years on end with no physical or mental disability...the only disability that you have is your own laziness. This is still America, the land of opportunity (I just might eat my words with the outbreak of a depression although immorality is argubly the cause of the depression not the capitalist system itself). Yes, capitalism has its flaws, but those flaws originate in corruption. Isn't that something that every type of government is not susceptible to? Quite frankly, a socialistic form of government is far more succeptible than a capitalist. Where there is power, there is corruption. The more power we give someone, the higher likelihood that there will be more corruption.
The reason that people around the world flocked here was that anyone has the opportunity to be successful. In other nations, the class that you are born in is the class you live in for the rest of your life. Once the incentive for people to work hard disappears, why would anyone to aspire to anything? Forget that, I'll move to Alaska and conspire with Sarah Palin to succeed and set up a truly free country. The great fundamental reason why capitalism works is that it does not discriminate, and just as importantly, hard work and intuition are rewarded with success.

It's alllll relative...sometimes
Eh, what is right to you is not right to me so quit imposing your personal beliefs on me. Nice try, but moral relativism is perhaps the greatest source of evil that the modern age has known. Quite a statement but after considering different viewpoints, there was no other conclusion that I could make. Its a real shame that this convenient doctrine has been taught to students on a magnificent scale and is deemed as a bonafied personal excuse to do wrong.
For many years I have been instructed that it was evil for Christian missionaries to subject many African American tribes to Christianity. The very same firey feministia would scream with hysteria if any of her students tried to justify raping a woman let alone drop a derogatory term against anyone. Hang on a sec, I think that she should take a trip to Africa and hold Socratic seminars on the topic of solutions for not pillaging and warring against other tribes. No no, she can't do that, I forgot, to them it is ok, moral and justified. To impose your imperialistic personal beliefs before theirs is immoral and irresponsible. Therefore the killing must continue, pain must dominate and justify actions. No, we cannot have people realize their personal dignity and act with class, respect and adhere to a code that ensures justice and equality for all. The greatest irony is that the Christian religion promotes equality, promotes justice, promotes peace, and most importantly promotes the recognition of right and wrong in black and white TRUTH. Why are so many people afraid of this?
Oh how great political correctness is!!!! The perfect excuse for so many social problems that we don't dare face. If it is not politically easy to address an issue, I'll just put a bag over my head. I find it hilarious when people are so uncomfortable about the truth that they have to lie about what is really happening. Political correctness has molded so many people's opinions. The simple false illusion that if something is not wrong, then it must be right is a large reason why so many problems are neglected.
The single greatest reason that so many cannot recognize truth is that it points to the injustice that we cause in our personal lives. This forces us to recognize that we are not living as we should and need to change. This is just too inconvenient and too much work. Since it is inconvenient, I don't think I should believe it. I like the paper bag best, but let me know when something politically expedient comes around so I can get some fresh air and scream on the soap box.
Succumbing to Subjectivity
How has the media coverage changed from the past or has it changed at all? Well, this is a hard question to answer because I've only been around for a short period of time relative to many, but the one thing I have noticed is the bias of reporters. Sure that isn't too hard to notice, CNN is almost left of socialist and Fox is the show that justifies all the crazy militants to blow stuff up. Knowing their biases, I can make a judgment about what I think is right wrong or whatever BUT the specific media poison that kills the freedom of the common people's opinion is the subjective reporting. Where are the facts now adays? It has come to the point where who you listen to the most defines your political opinion which is a far cry from using the personal intellect and common sense that we are given.
For instance, on Fox news I hear a news anchor blurt out, "Prop 8 the anti-gay legislation in California"....wait a sec. For one, do you not have enough confidence in my intelligence to decide whether something is anti-gay or not? I had a hard time believing that California passed legislation that is oppressive to any demographic. Secondly, when I looked into the legislation, Prop 8 defines that marriage is between a man and a woman in the California Constitution. The whole legislation asked the California consensus to define their definition of marriage. Under civil unions, people who consider themselves gay have the same rights as married couples so what is this really about? How is Prop 8 anti-gay? For one, I feel betrayed, the news station that stands for blowing stuff up and killing people has suddenly taken a gay agenda stance. Its like going into a hamburger join and the server gives you a veggie patty made up of half rotten corn instead of that juicy smoldering hot burger that you were hoping for. Eh, who knows what anything is made of anymore? The ground beef probably has bodily cow goop that we wouldn't dream of touching. Point is, how many people question what they are being told and scratch a little below the surface? Then again, when every restaurant serves garbage and we are all so busy with our fast paced lifestyle, it is hard to care anymore. Just try to enjoy what you are eating and try not to think past the Ketchup on your fries. Bottom line, the news media can no longer be trusted, there are no more facts to prove what is reported right or wrong.
Something that is just as bad as the bait and switch of the media is the coverage of issues that pertain to very few but somehow to all because it is entertaining. The best example I can think of is the coverage of Laci Peterson and Natalie Holloway. Yes, Laci Peterson's case was heart wrenching, but how many cases of injustice are like this statewide...nation wide....world wide? It makes me sick when I realize that they make money by covering how a lady's mentally deranged husband killed her and her unborn child. Is that not just as bad? How is that in any way considered news?
Benjamin Disraeli once said, “There are lies, damned lies and then there are statistics” and the greatest load of bogus that the news media constantly pull are polls. Where to start? Can there possibly be a poll that is not subjective? Sure, if every single person in a country voluntarily answered a poll honestly....as if that is ever going to happen. Wait, why do polls even matter? Do people realize that the publication of polls are an instrument that levies social pressure? How many people do you know that want to be a pain and go against the opinion of the crowd? So OK, I'm part of the minority BUT I'm sure that you realize that the majority of the public is rather uniformed and doesn't think critically about a variety of issues especially now because it is hard to find anything objective. Most importantly, polls have yet to change the facts of a story...since the last time I checked.
Does the media deserve 100% of the blame? Well no, although they are morally obligated to provide facts to the American public. Serving personal interests over what is best for the nation is considered un-American and this does not exclude the media. Something that we have to remember that the media is a business. The interests that enable them to make the most money are the interests that they will serve. If we as a general public demanded that the media quit covering pointless bogus, then news media coverage would be different. The sole reason that it has degraded to its current point is the fact that they want to reach the broadest audience. More facts, and more context would make for a boring media in most people's opinions. In order to reach the greatest audience, the media provides "news" supplemented with more opinion than fact. If you think about it, much of the media coverage of court cases are like a continuation of the entertaining reality TV shows. The greatest injustice is that reality TV takes the place of important problems that Americans have to put up with every day. When was the last time that reporters were honest about coverage of a story and motivated more by the best interest of the American public rather than dough? If you find one, drop me a line cause I'm still lookin.
